Comprehensive Educational and Therapeutic Programming

Community Integration

Students at NW BOCES have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of community experiences, such as attending concerts, plays, and sporting events; swimming at the local hot springs pools; visiting museums, including the dinosaur museum; dining at area restaurants; joining community celebrations; and taking part in both local and statewide field trips. These activities are designed to help students apply the skills they are learning in real-world settings, supporting their transition back to their homes, local schools, and communities. Our team is dedicated to helping each youth achieve success in the least restrictive environment possible.

Behavior Program Components

Our behavior program focuses on building self-control and cooperation, while also providing adaptive interventions for co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, ODD, OCD, PTSD, anxiety disorders, histories of abuse, aggression, excessive fears, anger, social skill deficits, lack of trust, and challenges with daily living skills.

We utilize positive reinforcement strategies, including a response cost system, ongoing progress monitoring, a token economy, and level systems to encourage appropriate behavior and recognize student achievements.

Our approach provides a continuum of care that considers the “whole child,” offering individualized treatment plans within the least restrictive environment and ensuring 24-hour supervision.

Assessment & Therapy Components

Services include milieu therapy, psychotherapy using neuropsychiatric and cognitive-behavioral methods, family therapy, parent training, comprehensive medical and recreational therapy, behavioral and life skills assessments, medication management, psychiatric evaluations, academic and psychological testing, and nutritional assessments. These components work together to support each student’s overall development and well-being.
